Marine Exchange

The Marine Technical Email Forum
For Professionals Employed in Marine Industries.

Purpose:

Marine Exchange Email Forum This reflected email list is designed to allow informal interaction between a selected group of online marine professionals who are Marine Exchange participants.  The purpose is to promote discussion of subjects common to all of us, and to provide an ongoing resource to share ideas and information relevant to the trade.

While primarily designed for marine surveyors, and modeled after Boatpokers, a very successful Email Forum exclusively for use by members of the Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors, the Marine Exchange is open to any member of a marine profession including yacht brokers, admiralty lawyers, marine insurance professionals, marine architects, boat builders, repair shop owners, marine mechanics, boat haulers etc..

As a condition of membership, you are expected to conduct yourself in a respectful manner.  The discussions on this reflector are not moderated.   Anything you post will go to everyone currently registered on the list.   Because of this, there are some common sense restrictions that apply, and there is a small list of do's & don't's called "Marine Exchange Rules and Netiquette".  These rules were originally written by a marine surveyor for another email forum and they have stood the test of time.

Email the Listmaster, Don Robertson for a free 30 day trial subscription.

Click here to send a message to the Marine Exchange List: exchange@marinesurveyor.com (You must be a current subscriber, or the message won't go through.
  • When replying to a message from Marine Exchange and you want it to go to the sender only, press "Reply".
  • If your reply will benefit others and you want to send it to the entire list, press "Reply to All".

Attachments of any sort are not allowed, and are in fact stripped out if sent.  The reason for this is twofold; virus considerations are the first concern, and second, many recipients do not want to receive large unsolicited files in which they may have no interest.  There is a Data Page available for members to post information, photos, etc., for the benefit of the group.

Got a problem or a question? Email Don Robertson, the Marine Exchange Listmaster.
